Aloe
claviflora is unusual that the inflorescences (flower stems)
are slanted. The Afrikaans name is Kanonaalwyn, (meaning
'canon aloe'). The specific name 'claviflora' means club
shaped as you can see in the detail below.
This plant was by
the gates to a farm and I presume it had been planted there. Close
by was a giant plant of Tephrocactus (Opuntia)
molinensis (below). Now this was a long way from home.
It is a native of Argentina! I don't think there will an Afrikaans
name for it.
