In the 70s it was the fashion to arrange rocks and photograph pot plants in a mock habitat fashion. They looked ridiculous - just like the picture above. However this is the real thing - Pediocactus despainii flowering through the rock debris on a bitterly cold April day in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. Oh, fond memories...
