The Judging
|

The
judging is always a serious business and here we see National Show
Secretary Rodney Sims giving a last briefing to the Official Judges.
Naturally hundreds of unofficial ones went out later to re-judge the
exhibits. Below: The official calipers and rulers (marked in MMs) stand
ready.

Right: Ian
Robinson (in the red NCSS jumper) and Derek Tribble judge the
Euphorbias, watched by steward David Edwards. Now tell me, Ian, is it
really possible to tell the sex of Euphorbia stellispina from
the spines?
Were the official BCSS calipers needed? It is not recorded though some plants were NASed for being too big. What was far more interesting is that there was a rumour that there was a Euphorbia obesa in the one of the Nine 90mm Cacti classes. (No, of course it is not a cactus). I would love to see a photo of that! Guess what? |
