Scene at the marquee In fact several scenes!

view in the sales marquee at the National

The sales tent did a roaring trade and there was something for everyone. We all wanted to take a souvenir of the National home. Below are smiling nurserymen (a rare sight) John Henshaw and Tim Wilson.

Tim Wilson and John Henshaw

Astophytum asterias hybrids

Echinopsis Schick hybrids

Above: I heard someone say 'I only buy them in flower'. Northants News is running a special feature on Schick hybrids in the next issue. Watch this space!

Above: Red blotchy Gymnos just £8 and extra dotty Astrophytums £10. Prices were in Euros ready for the future.

Southfields at the National

Paul Shirly

Above: Something for everyone and there were two Epiphyllum nurseries. At Paul Shirly's you could buy cuttings with the name written on the leaves which saves you losing the label. (Yes, I know they aren't leaves but then they aren't cacti. Or if they are were, where were they on the National Show bench?)

The near end of the Southfield's sales area looked like one of their displays. For a few quid extra you could save a few years in growing that National winner.
